Gas prices fell in every market we track this month, but Fayetteville's unemployment rate climbed 0.2 points even as its home prices softened.

If you're filling up anywhere in Arkansas this month, you caught a break. Gas dropped in Little Rock, Fayetteville, and statewide, all in the same direction. Fayetteville led the pack, down 3.0% to $3.71 a gallon. That's real money back in your pocket if you're commuting.

Fayetteville's the one place with a wrinkle worth watching. Unemployment rose from 2.9% to 3.1%, up 0.2 points, the biggest percentage move on this whole tape. That's not a crash, but it's the kind of number that says the job market there cooled a little while home prices actually eased too, down to $441,000 for a median listing. Cheaper to buy, a bit harder to find work. Both true at once.

Little Rock stayed mostly steady. Rent barely moved, home values ticked up a fraction of a percent, and unemployment sat flat at 3.6%. If you want boring in a good way, that's boring in a good way.

Statewide, the story is cheaper gas and a slight pullback in listing prices, with unemployment holding at 3.9%. Nothing dramatic, but nothing here should scare you off either. Arkansas isn't getting more expensive to live in right now. It's getting a little cheaper, quietly.
